Bio

Michael Gaul is a veteran fire and emergency services captain and hazardous materials IC with more than 15 years of operational, leadership, and instructional experience across military, federal, and international emergency response environments. He currently serves with Fort Gordon Fire and Emergency Services in Georgia, where he has held multiple assignments since 2003 and was promoted to captain in 2018. Captain Gaul has led structural firefighting, hazardous materials response, rescue operations, and emergency medical interventions, routinely serving in command and safety officer roles on the fireground. He directs vehicle extrication and high-risk rescue incidents, develops hazardous materials action plans, and is a mentor.
His experience extends internationally through leadership and fire protection assignments in combat theaters. While deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, he served as station chief and assistant chief of operations.

Accomplishments

Captain Gaul has received numerous awards recognizing operational excellence and leadership, including Firefighter of the Year, Fire Officer of the Quarter, Army Civilian Achievement Medals, lifesaving recognitions for CPR saves, and commendations from military commands during Operation Enduring Freedom. He credits his crews through the years to success.
